July in Napa arrives with energy, color and a full calendar of community traditions. The month begins with Independence Day festivities and continues with music, culture and outdoor celebrations that carry straight through summer. Whether you love parades, concerts, culinary experiences or simply being out with neighbors, July offers something for everyone.

A Star Spangled Start: Napa’s 4th of July Parade

The Rotary Club of Napa Sunrise launches the holiday with its Annual 4th of July Parade, a salute to America’s 250th Anniversary. This year’s parade features floats, performers, musicians and community groups that reflect the theme “America 250: Unite for Good.”

Although the parade begins at 9 a.m., staging starts at 7:30 a.m. and judging takes place at 8 a.m. Winners are announced at the start of the parade. Announcers this year are Bob St. Laurent of 99.3 FM The Vine and Michael Basayne. The Grand Marshal is Congressman Mike Thompson, and the National Anthem will be performed by Andrea Maloney and Athena Tolentino.

Entries for 2026 may include schools, sports teams, clubs, first responders, active military, veterans, nonprofit organizations, elected officials and local businesses. Spectators can expect clowns, color guards, drill teams, dance and baton groups, Scouts, antique vehicles, equestrian units and other animal groups.

City of Napa 4th of July Celebration and Drone Show

After the parade, the celebration continues at Oxbow Commons from 3 to 10 p.m, presented by the City of Napa Parks & Recreation Department. This family friendly event includes a lively Kids Zone with carnival games, inflatables and magic shows. Older kids and adults can enjoy live entertainment on the Mainstage beginning at 4 p.m. Performers include Orquesta Bembé, Wonder Bread 5, A Salute to America and music for the Drone Show at 9:30 p.m.

Food and beverages will be available for purchase throughout Oxbow Commons, and a free bike valet welcomes cyclists.

The popular Drone Show returns for its third year with 400 drones, making it the largest drone show in Northern California. Presented by Sky Elements, the choreographed display will take place above the Pearl and West Street parking lot. This area will close at 9 p.m. as part of the required safety zone.

Recommended viewing areas include Oxbow Commons, the First and Third Street Bridge sidewalks, Veterans Memorial Park along the river and the Riverfront Promenade. Revamped Napa Concert SeriesSunday Afternoons in the Park

Independence Day may kick off the month, but the fun continues every Sunday afternoon with the newly revamped Sunday Afternoons in the Park at Veterans Memorial Park from 1 to 4 p.m. Formerly Friday Nights in the Park, this free summer concert series has four dates – Sunday, July 5, 12, 19 and August 2. (No concert on July 26 – come support the Napa SOFI District 3rd Annual Battle of the Bands!)

Located at the corner of Third and Main Streets along the Napa River, the park becomes a lively gathering place for families, friends and music lovers. Two bands perform each afternoon, covering genres from country and pop to jazz, rock and folk. Admission and parking are free, and a bike valet is provided by the Napa County Bicycle Coalition.

Guests are encouraged to bring low back chairs and picnics. Food trucks and nonalcoholic beverages are available for purchase. Alcohol is not sold at the event, but the surrounding downtown area offers numerous wine bars and restaurants.

Festival Napa Valley Celebrates 20 Years

One of Napa Valley’s most anticipated cultural events returns this month as Festival Napa Valley marks its 20th Anniversary. From July 4 through July 19, the festival presents world class music, opera, dance, culinary experiences and family friendly programs across vineyards, wineries and private estates.

The festival blends classical, opera, jazz and contemporary performances with culinary and wellness offerings. Renée Fleming performs in Voice of Nature: The Anthropocene and serves as keynote speaker for the Music and Wellness Summit. Wynton Marsalis headlines the Arts for All Gala at Nickel & Nickel Winery, which includes a multi course dinner and exceptional wines.

Additional highlights include ballet performances, art song recitals, violin and piano duos and a Symphonic Finale honoring America’s 250th Anniversary.

Events take place at multiple venues including Charles Krug Winery in St. Helena, The Culinary Institute of America at Copia in Napa, Nickel & Nickel in Oakville, the Jarvis Conservatory and the Uptown Theatre.

Blue Note Napa Summer Sessions at the Meritage

Blue Note Napa’s Summer Sessions return to the Village Lawn at the Meritage Resort with a lineup of world class and eclectic performers. The July 4 performance features Claypool Gold, bringing together three of Les Claypool’s most adventurous bands: Primus, The Claypool Lennon Delirium and Les Claypool’s Fearless Flying Frog Brigade. Blue Note describes the evening as “one mind melting musical experience.”

Other July performers include Jon Anderson with The Band Geeks, Grammy Award winning trumpeter Chris Botti and electronic music pioneer Howard Jones. Show times and ticket prices vary.

July at the Uptown Theatre

The Uptown Theatre at 1350 Third Street continues its tradition of bringing top tier entertainment to Downtown Napa.
