Keller Williams Realty Napa Valley “Gives Where They Live”

On Thursday, May 11th, 2017 you will find the real estate agents of Keller Williams Realty Napa Valley, their families and staff, painting, planting, installing and serving at the VOICES Napa location at 780 Lincoln Avenue. VOICES – Voice-Our-Independent-Choices-For-Emancipation-Support is a leader in providing youth with the resources and support they need to make the leap from foster care to successful, independent adulthood. VOICES brings together more than 40 partnering agencies to provide housing, education, employment, and wellness services to transitioning youth, ages 16-24. Created and run by former foster youth, VOICES also offers unique leadership opportunities with the organization.

In California, there are 58,343 foster youth, nearly 1,000 of which are placed in Napa and Sonoma Counties. Once youth leave foster care, the odds are immediately stacked against them. Each year, VOICES serves approximately 1,200 youth emancipating out of foster care, group home, mental health, and probation. The services they provide help these youth successfully transition into independent adulthood while providing them with a loving community and place to call home.

Keller Williams Realty Napa Valley is honored to be able to work with the youth and staff at VOICES to bring some long desired projects to completion. The projects will include:

• updating the bathroom,

• bringing a youthful new look to a well-worn

but sturdy wood dining table,

• sanding and repainting picnic tables,

• planting and gardening,

• and much more.

As per the VOICES commitment to the facility being youth directed all of these projects will be “youth” approved. The Keller Williams Napa Valley associates will be working alongside the youth, staff and other volunteers to create a community within a community experience. The overall goal of this project is multi-faceted. In addition to the projects being completed, it is also about the volunteers and youth getting to know and appreciate one another on a more personal level while giving the youth an opportunity to explore new opportunities and learn new skills.

In addition to these projects, Keller Williams Realty Napa Valley is also raising funds to replace some of the worn out furniture with new, matching and more modern items such as chairs, desks, and futons from the VOICES “wish list”.
